How to Pick Up Your Parcel from Canada Post
What You'll Need
Picking Up Your Own Parcel
To pick up your own parcel, you'll need:
- Your delivery notice card (the card left by Canada Post) - if no card was left reference the tracking number
- One piece of government-issued photo ID showing your name and current address that matches the address on the parcel
OR
Two pieces of valid ID, at least one showing your current address that matches the address on the parcel.
Sending Someone Else to Pick Up Your Parcel
If someone else is picking up your parcel, they will need:
- Your delivery notice card
- Their own valid photo ID
- A signed letter of authorization from you (attached to this help article)
- A photocopy of your ID
Acceptable Forms of ID
Government-Issued Photo ID (with current address)
- Driver's license
- Provincial/territorial ID card
- Canadian passport (if it shows your current address)
Other Acceptable ID (when using two pieces)
- Credit card with your signature
- Health card (if accepted for ID purposes in your province)
- Employee ID card
- Student ID card
- Old Age Security card
- Birth certificate
- Canadian citizenship card
- Permanent resident card
- Indigenous status card
- Recent utility bill showing your address
- Bank statement showing your address
The Pickup Process
- Go to the Post Office listed on your delivery notice card
- Present your delivery notice card and ID to the postal clerk
- Sign for your parcel when requested
- Check your parcel before leaving the counter
Important Notes
- The name and address on your ID must match the name and address on the parcel
- If your ID doesn't show your current address, bring proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, etc.)
- Delivery notice cards are typically valid for 15 calendar days
- For parcels requiring proof of age, you must be at least 18 or 19 years old (depending on your province)
